Pooley Fields Country Park
Pooley Fields Country Park is a recovered mining area next to the Coventry Canal (beware deep water). There is a Visitor Centre with opening limited to the weekends and Bank Holidays.
The M42 crosses the area near the Start of the Permanent Orienteering Courses.
There are many paths in the area which is well used by walkers, dog-walkers and fishermen.
Most of the forested area is runnable with a small hill surmounted by a tower to commemorate the former mining.

This website or the Pooley Fields Visitor Centre when it is open (see above) there are 3 courses on the one map which costs £1.
The Easy and Intermediate Courses (1.7km and 3.0km) are designed for Beginners and those with little experience of orienteering.
The Harder (4.8km) Course offers some challenges to more experienced orienteers. NB. Control No.18 is inaccessible at present (Summer 2020 onwards) due to high undergrowth, so please omit 18 and just go straight from 12 to 11.
The Visitor Centre is open on Saturdays and Sundays and Bank Holidays (except Christmas Day) from 10 am to 4 pm.
There is a cafe on the ground floor and upstairs a fascinating museum from the old mining days.
Toilets (including disabled) are situated just outside the Visitor Centre.
All the MapRun courses are shown on the same map as the POCs and controls are co-located with standard orienteering controls in this edition.
