Worden Park POC 2024

Worden Park is a hidden gem, situated on the edge of Leyland it could be described as a Country Park in the town.

Worden, with its mature woodlands, open meadows, historic natural landscapes, varied wildlife and peaceful setting offers a haven of natural beauty where you can walk, picnic and relax in undisturbed surroundings.

In addition to Worden’s natural appeal, visitors can enjoy a range of facilities and people say it’s a great day out for the family.

Doing the Permanent course: You can visit some or all of the 26 numbered ‘controls’ in any order in your own time or in a fixed amount of time of your choosing. If you visit all 26 at a walking pace it’s likely to take you between 1 and 1 ½ hours. We suggest you start from the FOLLY COFFEE HOUSE, a building adjacent to the red triangle shown near the middle of the map.

When you find a ‘control’ you will see in the middle of the numbered red circle on the map a post with two plates. One plate will have the number of the ‘control’ and a letter; the other plate will have the number of the ‘control’ and a QR code. If you are recording the letter using a pencil or pen then simply write the letter down next to the number of the ‘control’ on the CONTROL DESCRIPTION list; if you are using a Smart Phone then record the QR code on the phone. In this case, you MUST upload the programme http://mobo.osport.ee/ by first visiting the post at the red triangle adjacent to the Folly Coffee House. This has the advantage of recording the exact time you visited each control. This red triangle is also the finish for the Mobo QR app.

You can also do a very similar course using the Maprun app - see the Virtual Orienteering Score Course at Worden Park.

Try More Orienteering: If you enjoy this exercise there are frequent local and newcomer-friendly events in the area organised by SROC/Red Rose Orienteers. For more information please visit www.sroc.org or www.facebook.com/SouthRibbleOC or email development@sroc.org You can have one FREE entry to an event if you present this map to the organiser.
